Chale vāte chalaṁ chittaṁ, niścale niścalaṁ bhavet | yogī sthāṇutvam āpnoti tato vāyuṁ nirodhayet ||Haṭha Yoga Pradīpikā 2.2|| — “As long as the breath moves, so will the mental noise. In the same way, when breath is stopped, the mental noise will be gone too. One should therefore sit and hold the breath.”

Āvatsarārdham-abhyāsam pratyahaṃ yaḥ samācharet | sarva-roga-vinirmukto vatsarān mṛtyu-jid bhavet ||Kumbhak Paddhatiḥ149|| — “One who practices Kumbhak daily for six months is said to become free from all physical and mental diseases and imbalances; with a year of practice, one is said to overcome premature death.”

Dhārayen manasā prāṇaṃ sandhyā-kāleṣu sarvadā | sarva-roga-vinirmukto jīved yogī gata-klamaḥ ||Yoga Yājñavalkya2.2|| —“One should regularly hold the breath three times a day. This is said to completely free one from all diseases and one will live happily free of suffering.”
